For lengthy absences, i.e. more than 3 consecutive days you will be asked to provide a medical evidence from a healthcare professional. We would ask all parents to please make all appointments out of school hours, where at all possible, as it can be very disruptive to learning.
Please remember, all students should arrive promptly for registration at 8.45am. If your child is unable to attend school, it is vital that you call the absence line, for every day your child is absent on 01373 469008 and leave a clear message detailing your child’s name, tutor group and reason for absence. You can also email the Attendance Team fccattendance@fromecollege.org.uk
Each week your child's tutor will inform each child of their year to date attendance percentage. Your child will be rewarded for improvements.
Your child's attendance information can be found in your Arbor app.
Missing out on lessons leaves children vulnerable to falling behind.
We seek to ensure that all our pupils receive a full-time education which maximises opportunities for each pupil to realise their true potential both socially and academically.
Over a period of five school years, a pupil with 90% attendance will have missed half a year of schooling. Similarly, pupils with poor punctuality miss valuable lesson time and, if it happens regularly, progress will be jeopardised.
With the exception of students with a medical condition or other extenuating circumstances, all students should aim for 97% attendance. If your child's attendance shows a successive decline we will contact you to offer support.
Combining good attendance and good punctuality ensures that your child has the best possible preparation for taking their place in the wider community beyond Frome College and into the workplace or further study.
