Is my child too ill for school?

It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell. Click on the link below for advice.

For lengthy absences, i.e. more than 3 consecutive days you will be asked to provide a medical evidence from a healthcare professional. We would ask all parents to please make all appointments out of school hours, where at all possible, as it can be very disruptive to learning.

Please remember, all students should arrive promptly for registration at 8.45am. If your child is unable to attend school, it is vital that you call the absence line, for every day your child is absent on 01373 469008 and leave a clear message detailing your child’s name, tutor group and reason for absence. You can also email the Attendance Team fccattendance@fromecollege.org.uk

SOL Attendance

What is SOL Attendance

SOL attendance is a tracker used by the school, to monitor your child's attendance. Students and parents should be aware of their attendance, this will be placed into the diamond as shown above. Students will be informed of their weekly change via tutor time by their tutor.

Please be aware, the Department for Education regard any student’s attendance which is below 90% as a persistent absence, this means that college will closely monitoring students who are not achieving an overall attendance of 97% and above. Students with attendance rate of 90% and below will be referred to EES

Combining good attendance and good punctuality ensures that your child has the best possible preparation for taking their place in the wider community beyond Frome College and into the workplace or further study. We would therefore ask that you support your child and Frome College, enabling us together, to provide those basic principles that will lead to a happy and successful adult equipped with an education, self-belief and commitment to taking their place in the global market.
