We have four Houses at Frome College: Aristotle, Einstein, Franklin and Newton. Students remain in their House throughout Years 9, 10 and 11. There will be lots of inter-house competitions and plenty of opportunities to be awarded House points; from work done whilst at College to that undertaken in the community. There are a three cups to be won in the House competitions: the Challenge Cup, the Sports Cup and the Community Cup.
The Challenge Cup is made up of academic achievements within the College, students will be awarded House points for good attendance, receiving merits and their ‘attitude to learning’ score.
For the Sports Cup students can be awarded House points for entering into inter-House competitions and will also receive extra points for coming 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. There are also House points available for taking part in school sports teams and for being part of any sports activity/team outside the College.
Points for the Community Cup can be gained by attending after-school clubs, being part of extra-curricular activities such as concerts, gigs, Enterprise events or College drama productions. There are various competitions the College enters, such as the Rotary Club Speaking Competitions, Maths Challenge, Rotary Club Young Writers Competition, which will enable students to pick up House points. Other ways to get House points for this cup include being part of any team (other than sports), being tutor group or House representative, senior management allocation.
These are just a few of the ways that students can be awarded House points. At the end of each half term the top students in each cup will be congratulated and awarded certificates during our celebration assemblies.
