Connor Construction (South West) Ltd set their latest challenge for our Year 12 graphics students to design a set of icons to highlight the company’s core values of: Integrity, community, innovation, environment & sustainability, compliance, quality, trust, pride, the future, teamwork, safety.

Genevieve Thorogood, Communications Officer at Connor Construction told our students “We are basically looking at creating a core values banner to go in our Head Office, as well as to use online and for advertising purposes. For example, one core value may be ‘Integrity’ as it is an important attribute to have for people in our company. We would then like small pictures designed to reflect that value. If our CEO, Ian Webb picks the set of Icons that you have designed, you will win £250, as well as be featured in an article that will be sent to all our clients. The 2nd place will receive £100 prize, and the 3rd place will receive £50.  There must be at least one icon designed for each core value to be submitted as a set.”

In the photo above (L-R) Sarah Auld, Ian Webb, our winner Ethan Kibblewhite, runner up Tali Tye, Genevieve Thorogood, and Principal, Emma Reynolds.  Jude Goodchild, our joint runner up, was absent on the day, but has since received his prize.

On Tuesday 15 June, Ian and Genevieve attended the prize giving presentation on our ECOS amphitheatre. Sarah Auld, teacher of art, who led the student project said “Conor Construction were brilliant as usual and provided the students with a fantastic opportunity in a difficult year. The project ran entirely during lockdown which gave our students focus and meaning. We are incredibly proud of how they stepped up to the challenge and look forward to working with the Connor Construction team again in the future”.

Ian Webb said “Thank you very much for all your hard work and participation. A big congratulations to the top 3: Ethan, Tali and Jude.  All entries were of a very professional level and to a very high standard, making it extremely hard to decide on the winner. It is great for a local business to engage with local students. We were very thrilled with the results of the last two competitions we held with Frome College, and we would like to continue working alongside the school to provide opportunities for young people”.

Congratulations to our winners, and well done to everyone who took part in the competition. This has highlighted once again the diversity and talent of our young people at Frome College.
