On Thursday 1 February, 3 teams from Frome College and 3 teams from Selwood Academy, competed in the 1st heat of the Rotary Youth Speaks Competition.
 
Poppy Pinkster (main speaker), Ella Evans (chairperson) and Martha Stradling came 1st, and progressed to the next round on Thursday 8 February. Poppy's speech on ‘Nature or Nurture’ fascinated the audience. 
 
Owen White was awarded Best Speaker for his witty and engaging speech on the stereotyping of the young. All 3 College teams were highly impressive!
  
On Wednesday 7 February the winners were awarded the Principals' Commendation by Emma Reynolds, for taking part in the ‘If I Ruled the World’ taking competition just before Christmas. 
 
On Thursday 8 February, Ella Evans, Poppy Pinkster and Martha Stradling won the 2nd Round.  There were 7 teams competing from Somerset and Wiltshire schools.  

Well done to them - they were fantastic!

 
The next round is on Saturday 24 February at the Kings of Wessex Academy in Cheddar.
