This term has seen exciting trips for a number of Business & Economics students. As well as the trip to London to visit the Bank of England and Houses of Parliament, Year 9 Economics students took part in a more local trip to Frome Museum.  The museum currently has an exhibition called 'Money Matters'. The students were very fortunate to be able to take part in a workshop about the history of work and businesses in the Frome Area and saw contracts and artefacts such as clocking in machine from children their age that were working in local businesses 100 years ago. They also had time to learn about the different coins and types of money that were on display in the exhibition, most of which had been discovered locally. Economics teacher, Rose Hiron-Grimes, would like to pass on her thanks to all the volunteers at the museum who gave up their time to speak with the students and share their extensive expertise.

This term Year 9 and 10 Business students visited Thorpe Park, where they took part in a workshop about guest care, and they were able to learn about the different ways in which Thorpe Park aim to satisfy their customers. As part of this workshop, students from Frome College Radio Show for Frome FM were able to interview the employee about working at Thorpe Park. The information gained from this day will be used towards their Business BTEC qualification. The students were able to apply their business knowledge to an interesting case study, and also had some time to enjoy the rides.

Report by Rose Hiron-Grimes, teacher of Business & Enterprise.
