We would like to thank the wonderful guests who came to Frome College on Wednesday 22 November for our Careers Talk sessions. Students were informed about the guest speaker’s different experiences and roles, the entry routes they took, and interesting insights into their typical day and aspects of their jobs. Much planning went into the event and students were able to select which talk most closely matched their areas of interest. If anyone would like to volunteer to give a speech on their career at our next talks on 10 January, 28 February, 25 April or 13 June, our Employability Co-ordinator, Louise Friend, would be delighted to hear from you. We would like to thank all the guest speakers for their help at the talks; Mike Bristow from Airbus who gave our students an insight into Aerospace, Chris Roach from Elevation Martial Arts and Matt Howlett Head of PE who talked about careers in sport.  Wendy Walsh owner of Garden Holistic Therapies in Midsomer Norton, discussed the beautician and therapies industry, John Box talked about the Police Force, Emma McNally  gave an insight into a career as a Financial Adviser, Jamie Seviour owner of Frometech talked about IT, Claudia Pepler-Berry talked about Theatre Production, directing a play, and managing a Theatre.  Head Teacher, Emma Reynolds, spoke about careers in teaching, and former Frome College student, Chloe Plaxton, and her colleague Fiyza Bouabdallah, gave an interesting insight into Optometry.

Both the students and staff involved very much enjoyed the talks and look forward to the next session on Wednesday, 10 January 2018.
