A group of Year 10 girls are currently involved in a project with Sky Sports Living for Sport. The idea is to develop student’s confidence and teach them 6 areas of success within the scheme.

The girls have to create a project to help motivate them and focus on achieving goals. The group have chosen to create the ‘This girl can’project, and have produced posters to put around the school in order to inspire others to take part in sport activities.

We have been very fortunate to be assigned Vernon Samuels as the College Sky Sports mentor.  Vernon is a former Great Britain triple jumper and Olympian, and came to visit the girls to outline the 6 areas of success and run some practical sessions. This was extremely exciting for the group, and Vernon was a fantastic ambassador for sport.

The group involved is: Maya Edwards, Arwen Wilkie, Jess Lee, Holly McPhee-Clarke, Ella Walker-Wiltshire, Sophie Kay, Millie Potter, Ella Kempshall, Kitty Peyton, Tilly Reilly-Stitt and Ellie Morse.

Principal, Mr Ball invited the sportsman for lunch with Mrs Sypko, teacher of PE, and thanked him for his support of Frome College. Vernon will be on of the guests of honour at our annual Sports Awards on Tuesday 11 July at 7.00pm in the Merlin Theatre.

We look forward to seeing everyone.
