The first Careers Café of the new academic year was a fantastic success and Frome College students received invaluable advice and insight from a range of highly talented and experienced guest speakers.

Dan Jarman from PACT talked about international peacekeeping and fighting for human rights.  Gavin Eddy, a highly successful entrepreneur discussed setting up a successful business and his work with his company, Forward Space.  Former Frome College student Jenny Atkins who now represents Bluebird Care spoke about how the work of her company helps individuals stay independent, happy and secure in their own homes.  Michelle Moss from Cosplay Event Management talked about her work with managing large entertainment events.  Will Parfitt from Forest Marble, which specialises in Estate Agents and Housing Management, discussed careers in the industry.   Chris Roach from Elevation Fitness talked about how we can turn our hobbies into a career.  John Gibbons from CIL Business discussed Business Management and Business Economics.  Ioannis Costas Bastille is a Ph.D. student at the University of Bath informed students about ‘what it is like going to university’ and the amazing opportunities this can bring. Former student Harry Foreman showed a film of his project ‘Film4Europe’ which is about film exchange and starting a career in film making.    Jenny Cook talked about employment opportunities at Longleat Safari Park, and Ann Dimery explained her work with the Coventry Building Society. The College's very own Apprenticeship Coordinator, Terry Bishop gave students good advice about apprenticeship opportunities, and welcomed Lily Moffat from the BBC's Spring Watch programme.

There was a real ‘buzz’ in the College Hall, building on the success of last years’ Careers Cafes; College Principal Gavin Ball, thanked all of the guest speakers for helping to enhance the student’s life chances and ambitions for the future.  The Careers Café is an exciting flagship event at Frome College as the school continues to make positive strides forward to provide our students with a high quality and enriched education, to help prepare them for further studies to aim high in their chosen careers.
