We are delighted to announce the BBC TV Presenter Sarah-Jane Bungay is our guest of honour at this year's GCSE Certificate Presentation on Friday 25 November at the Memorial Theatre in Frome.
Sarah-Jane has worked for the BBC for almost twenty years, taking roles on and off screen.
She grew up in Frome taking GCSEs and A Levels at Frome College, and enjoyed acting in school productions at the Merlin Theatre.
After University at Cardiff where she studied history and then a postgraduate diploma in broadcasting, she moved to Southampton where her career at the BBC began. Sarah-Jane was offered a three week stint on a radio show, answering phones to listeners – fifteen years later she was still at the BBC but now reporting on major news stories and presenting bulletins in the studio.
Five years ago Sarah-Jane moved to work for BBC Points West in Bristol. She loves reporting on the area where she grew up – her most exciting interview in recent years was speaking to Jenson Button when he came to drive an F1 car through the streets of Frome.
Most recently Sarah-Jane produced this year's Children in Need output for the West - she says “working with a big yellow bear, Pudsey, was a breeze - he couldn't answer back for a start!”
The formal ceremony for all College students who sat their Year 11 GCSE exams in the last academic year will begin prompt at 1.30pm. We therefore ask, all those students attending to dress smart, and arrive at 1.00pm in order to be seated by 1.15pm, for the start at 1.30pm.
Refreshments will be available for everyone in the Assembly Rooms following the formal presentation in the Theatre, allowing for an opportunity for friends to meet and catch up.
